AML / KYC and Sanctions Compliance

How Raised maintains a safe and compliant fundraising environment

Last updated: 13 October 2025

Raised is operated by Glassrope Limited (NZBN 9429046112989). We are committed to maintaining a safe and compliant fundraising environment in accordance with New Zealand and Australian law.

This page explains how Raised meets its Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions obligations when operating the platform.

This compliance statement should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

How Payments Are Processed

All payments made through Raised are processed by Stripe, a regulated global payment provider. Stripe performs all required customer verification (KYC), anti-money-laundering (AML) checks, and sanctions screening in accordance with its obligations under:

  • The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (New Zealand), and
  • The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Australia).

Raised does not handle or hold funds directly. All online payments, refunds, and payouts are managed by Stripe.

Customer Verification

When an organiser creates a campaign and connects a Stripe account, Stripe collects and verifies identifying information such as:

  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Residential or business address
  • Government-issued identification (for individuals) or registration details (for organisations)

Stripe may request additional documents if required to complete verification or comply with local regulations.

Sanctions and Restricted Activities

Stripe automatically screens all users against relevant international and local sanctions lists, including those maintained by:

  • The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)
  • The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
  • The United Nations Security Council

Raised only supports fundraisers within New Zealand and Australia. Users located outside these countries or associated with sanctioned regions are not eligible to use the platform.

Ongoing Monitoring

Stripe continuously monitors transactions for suspicious or fraudulent activity. Raised also reviews campaigns for unusual behaviour, such as misleading causes or irregular donation patterns.

Campaigns that appear suspicious may be suspended or terminated while reviewed by our Compliance Officer.

Reporting and Cooperation

If we identify any activity that could relate to money laundering, terrorism financing, or sanctions evasion, we will:

  • Notify Stripe immediately, and
  • Cooperate with the New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) or AUSTRAC as required by law.

We do not tolerate the use of Raised for unlawful purposes.

Record-Keeping and Privacy

Stripe maintains customer verification and transaction records securely for at least five years. Raised does not collect or store identity documents for campaigns processed through Stripe.

Any information we do hold is handled in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and our Privacy Policy.

Contact and Oversight

Compliance is overseen by Raised's Compliance Officer, who manages AML/KYC obligations, investigates suspicious activity, and liaises with Stripe and regulators when required.
