Volunteer at an African orphanage for my 50th

This dream has been with me most of my life but has stayed in the realms of "I would love too but it's probably too hard". I have a calling to be of service to vulnerable children in need in Africa it both excites and scares me to the same level. I know it will break my heart and heal it at the same time. Those who know me now that I have always felt a deep connection to Africa even though I have never been there. Since high school I have collected African art and painted African images. My soul lights up with African music and rhythm. But deeper than this is that my love language is feeding and nurturing people ... being a Mumma bear to anyone in our community who needs an ear, a hug or a full tummy. It is something I feel is somehow rooted in a cultural heritage that runs back deep into tribal culture. I have fundraised for many causes over the years but this is the first time to directly support a cause of my own which feels a little vulnerable. This is my midlife quest to give love where it is needed most while exploring a culture that I believe will help me unlock a deeper understanding of myself.
